The trend for automotive companies now is to take their products to Germany and test their cars there. The Nurburgring is pretty old and a very dangerous track. In modern days, only 20.832 km or 12.944 mi long is used, but for safety reasons, they finish about 200meters shorter sometimes.

Many automotive manufacturers test their cars on the track and engineer them to outstanding performance before the vehicles head to production. The Viper ACR has never seen this track, but it still set the fastest lap time.



Cars that Stand Out

2009 Corvette ZR1 and the Cadillac CTS-V - both cars were tested on the track and engineered to perfection. The Cadillac beat the BMW M5, and placed 1st in 4-door sedans...until Porshe's Panamera came along...The Corvette got a lap time of 7.26.4, putting it in front of the Nissan GT-R, Porsche Carrera, and the Porsche 911 GT2, and many more. It is one second behind the Ferrari Enzo.

The Nissan GT-R did great too, beautifully engineered car for a great price.

The Dodge Viper ACR is a street legal production Viper that set the record for being the fastest production street legal car to lap the Nurburgring, it was beaten by the Gumpert Apollo and the Radical afterwords. For a car that has never seen the Nurburgring before, it did very well. It is the fastest car that is available to everyone in the market of automobiles. To our suprise, the 8.4L V10 Viper engine burns less gas than the ZR1, V10 and V12 Lamborghinis and some Ferraris. Pretty empressive coming from a car with 8400cc, front engine and built in America.
